4H: The 4H Animal Health and Service Club is a school based, Monmouth County 4-H club open to all students at the Academy of Allied Health and Science High School grades 9-12. The mission of the 4-H Animal Health & Service Club within our high school is to provide awareness, education, and service to animals through our club, our school, and our community. Our activities range from guest speakers, animal visits, and veterinary science topics, to fundraising for shelters, rescues, and other community-based charities.
We meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from September to June during the activity time 11:00am – 11:30am in the Media Center. (Advisors: Ms. DiCostanzo and Ms. Pitman)
Academic Team: The purpose of the Academic Team is to provide the opportunity for students to take what they learn in the classroom and compete against other schools in a fast paced academic quiz format. Topics range from academic subjects to pop culture and general knowledge questions. The team competes in a number of events throughout the school year. (Advisors: Mr. Thamburaj and Ms. Devlin)
Art Committee: The Allied Art Committee is an extracurricular organization that provides support and enrichment for those students seeking a creative outlet in addition to their academic schedule. Students who are interested in all art mediums, such as drawing, painting, digital art, or sculpting, as well as those who enjoy the world of art in general are encouraged to join the committee. The Allied Art Committee meets twice a month on Fridays (2nd and 4th). It is a student run committee that is also responsible for planning and organizing the annual Allied Art Show. We also have many art challenges for students school-wide to participate. More information can be found on our website: Visit Art Committee Website . (Advisors: Ms. Advensky)
HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America): HOSA is the only nationally recognized student club for the Health Sciences. It incorporates service and leadership components. Past service events have included blood drives, used clothing drives, cards for currently serving military men and women abroad, and toiletry packs for veterans. One of the avenues in which leadership is both recognized and rewarded is through competition. Leadership conferences at the regional, state and national levels challenge students in a variety of health-related events. Students must place in the top five to move from regionals to states and must place first in New Jersey to move on to national competition. The club is open to juniors and seniors, and meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. (Advisor: Ms. DiCostanzo and Ms. Pitman)
Key Club: Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. The Allied Key Club website is here. (Advisor: Ms. Riehl)
Math League: This club is open to all students of all abilities. It allows its members to express their interest in mathematics. Students participate in the NJ Math League monthly contest during the activity period as well as the AMC10 & 12 contest, which is given after school. Monthly meetings are held weekly on Tuesdays. These meetings are student driven, allowing the members of the club to research and present topics of their interest that are not necessarily covered in their mathematics classes, delve into the history of mathematics, and plan logical puzzle days, math tournaments, and a school-wide Pi Day celebration. (Advisor: Mr. Thamburaj)
Mock Trial: The Mock Trial Club is an extracurricular program in which students participate in rehearsed trials to learn about the legal system in a competitive manner. Mock Trial is an excellent and creative way to learn about the law. Students prepare and simulate a trial by playing the roles of attorneys, witnesses, bailiffs and jurors. Students learn the rules of evidence, proper courtroom decorum, and the importance of law in a democratic society. Students work closely with an attorney coach and the club advisor. Mock Trial increases student confidence, oral speaking skills, critical thinking skills, poise and team work. The Mock Trial team meets every Monday from 10:30-11:30 in room 102 from September to January. The club competes annually in January at the Monmouth County Mock Trial Competition at the Freehold County Courthouse. (Advisor: Ms. Wilson)
Model United Nations: Model United Nations, also known as Model UN (MUN), is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulates United Nations committees. This activity takes place at MUN conferences, which are usually organized by high school or college MUN clubs. Model UN involves substantial researching, public speaking, debating and writing skills. Students will also focus on learning and implementing Parliamentary procedure. Model UN requires critical thinking skills, leadership abilities and teamwork. The Model UN club meets on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 in room 102 from February to June and competes in various MUN conferences throughout the state. (Advisor: Ms. Wilson)
National Honor Society: The National Honor Society (NHS) is a selective organization that is only open to juniors and seniors who meet and uphold certain requirements in four main areas. These four pillars, which are examined in order to achieve membership, include scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Members must demonstrate and fulfill the requirements listed below in order to obtain membership. The NHS not only recognizes the achievements of students, but also challenges them to continue personal growth in all four of these areas through involvement in the organization and its numerous activities here at AAHS and in the community. Pulse: The Allied Club For The Creative Mind is a student driven yet faculty advised club that encourages musical performances, along with creating and broadcasting short films. (Advisor: Mr. Oberlin)
School Wellness Club: The School Wellness Club is a club dedicated to improving the culture/climate of the school. We work on activities to spread wellness, happiness, and kindness throughout the school as well as promote camaraderie among students. We have several committees that work on activities that nurture social, emotional, civic, and academic growth for all students. Some of the activities include welcome greetings to new students, wellness bulletin boards and newsletters, kindness notes, announcements, buddy meetings, peer tutoring, and more. Our goal is to spread positivity and kindness and make every student feel "at home" here at AAHS. (Advisor: Ms. Garguilo)
Science Club, the "Wizards of AAHS!": This is an academically-oriented extracurricular program that allows students to explore science in various ways. Although there is a focus on competitive exams such as the Biology Olympiad and NJ Science League, there are also many fun STEM activities, student-led demonstrations, and community outreach events for all to partake. Club members are recognized for their academic interests, community service and leadership achievements. All students are welcome to join! Science doesn’t have to be all work, play is good too! Visit AAHS Science Cl Website for more information concerning meetings, competitions, etc. (Advisor: Ms. Reilly)
Student Council: The AAHS Student Council consists of the four elected class officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) from each of the Academy’s four classes. The Student Council as a whole attempts to meet the needs of the entire AAHS student body by addressing specific grade level concerns as well as general school issues. The class officers plan and coordinate fundraising activities and service projects for their respective grades and for the Academy as a whole. Additionally, Student Council members work with the Student Council Faculty Advisor to plan the events of Color Wars, the Academy’s spirit week. (Advisor: Mr. Benson)
The Spanish National Honor Society: The Spanish National Honor Society is open to students who pursue Spanish 4 or 5 during their senior year at the Academy of Allied Health and Science. In order to be eligible for membership, a student must have accumulated a 92% average in their language studies through their junior year at Allied. A student must maintain a 92% average as he/she continues his/her language course during senior year. (Advisor: Ms. Reichelt)
Yearbook: The AAHS Yearbook Club members create a lasting record of the year in the lives of the people of Allied. The book includes photos of every staff member and student, and commemorates the many clubs, events, and random goings-on that make Allied unique and wonderful. Students from every grade level are invited to participate. The club meets Fridays at 10:30 in room 111, and has frequent after-school work-and-pizza meeting
